The pay levels of RTE staff will be discussed when its Director General appears before the Oireachtas Communications Committee today.
Noel Curran will brief TDs and Senators on the budgetary situation at RTE and the steps the state broadcaster is taking to address its financial difficulties.
Mr Curran will be asked for his opinion on government plans to replace the TV licence fee with a household broadcasting charge.
The Oireachtas Committee also wants to hear whether RTE's Director General believes commercial broadcasters such as Today FM and TV3 should be entitled to a larger share of public funding.
