Retail giant Tesco has been fined €600 in the Dublin District Court after being convicted for misleading pricing.
The National Consumer Agency brought the prosecution in relation to eight breaches of the act where the company allegedly charged more for products at the till than the price indicated on the display.
The charges were brought after inspections in nine stores around the country.
The Chief Executive of the National Consumer Agency, Ann Fitzgerald, said the conviction should remind all retailers of the importance of meeting their obligations under consumer law.
