BUPA Ireland today announced that its initial campaign targeted at the over 65 group has been highly successful with over 1,000 new members confirmed in the first two months.

This follows the decision by the Tánaiste at the beginning of July to give elderly people without previous health insurance the right to enter the market.

Mr. Murray added that “following on to the success of the initial campaign that he intends launching an intensive new recruitment campaign shortly”.

Sean Murray, marketing director for BUPA Ireland called on the VHI to make available their database of over 65’s.

“That way each health insurer in Ireland can actively compete for these customers and provide the best value and greater competition,” he said.

The announcement was made at the seminar on Deregulation of the Health Care Sector in the Berkeley Court Hotel today.
