Arsene Wenger created more history tonight when he became the first manager to receive the League Managers Association’s Manager of the Year award for the second time.
The Arsenal manager won the title without losing a single Barclaycard Premiership game and was acclaimed at the LMA’s Annual Dinner in Nottingham. He received the votes of his fellow managers for the second time in three years.
Wenger completed a double; he was also named the Barclaycard Premiership Manager of the Year.
Another Premiership manager was honoured but for his success in the Second Division.
Southampton’s Paul Sturrock, who arrived at St Mary’s Stadium in March, won the Nationwide League Division Two Manager of the Year award for steering Plymouth towards promotion.
The Nationwide First Division award went to Norwich City’s Nigel Worthington, who took the East Anglian club back to the Premiership as champions.
Dave Penney won the Third Division award for taking Doncaster Rovers into the Second Division just a year after taking the club into the Nationwide League.
Meanwhile, the LMA Service to Football Award was presented to 68-year-old Don Howe, the former Arsenal manager, who retired as Academy Coach at Highbury last summer.
