British prime minister Rishi Sunak is set to call a UK general election for July, according to reports in England.

UK ministers are changing their plans to go to a Cabinet meeting this afternoon as speculation grows about whether the British prime minister will call a general election.

The UK foreign secretary David Cameron cut short his trip to Albania, the defence secretary has delayed a trip to the Baltic states, and the chancellor has pulled out of a TV appearance this evening.

The Guardian and Sky News have cited sources who told the outlets the election will be called for July 4th.
