French hold top ETA suspect

The suspected leader of the Basque separatist group ETA’s commando units was arrested in France today.

The suspected leader of the Basque separatist group ETA’s commando units was arrested in France today.

Spain’s Interior Ministry identified him as Mikel Kabikoitz Carrera Sarobe.

His arrest marks the sixth time in the past two years that a senior ETA leader has been held , either in Spain or France.

The ministry said the latest arrests were made today in the French Basque town of Bayonne by local police and Spanish Civil Guards.

Three other suspected ETA members were arrested, and one of their partners.
