Events of natural disaster can bring out the very best in people.
This has been exemplified within Irish society the past week and in particular within our health services.
Nursing Homes Ireland takes this opportunity to acknowledge, commend and thank staff within our nursing homes across the country.
Nursing homes are reliant upon staff across a range of disciplines to meet the health and living care needs of people who require round-the-clock care.
These include nurses, carers, chefs and those who organise the activities that bring enjoyment and fulfilment to these people’s lives on a daily basis.
We are aware of great sacrifices that were undertaken by nursing home management and their staff to provide care to older persons as the country was pounded by the worst extremes of weather.
We should not take for granted the tremendous sacrifices made by personnel within our nursing homes and, indeed, their families and members of the public who are supporting them in travelling to and from the nursing home.
We take this opportunity, through your pages, to thank staff within our nursing homes for their tremendous commitment, resilience, dedication and compassion that was to the fore during Storm Emma.
You exemplify human resilience, kindness and decency.
