At least 30 supporters of the main opposition party in Bangladesh have been arrested following violent clashes with police in the capital Dhaka.

At least 30 supporters of the main opposition party in Bangladesh have been arrested following violent clashes with police in the capital Dhaka.

The Awami League had called the strike to protest against the government’s withdrawal of special police protection for their leader, Sheikh Hasina.

They are angry about what they say is a breakdown in law and order, and attacks allegedly carried out by supporters of the government on the country’s Hindu minority.
