Heatwave to hit peak
Temperatures could hit 32 degrees in places on Monday as Ireland experiences a “sweltering” heatwave.
A Met Éireann high temperature warning is in force since Sunday, with head of forecasting Evelyn Cusack saying the peak of the hot weather will hit today. The highest temperature recorded on Sunday was in Dublin's Phoenix Park, at 29.3 degrees.
Many are taking to the water to cool off, with one Meath farmer swimming in hay after he built a makeshift 40-foot pool for his neighbours to cool down in as temperatures continue to soar.

Dogs Trust has urged dog owners to only walk their pets "very early or after sunset" amid the current hot spell.
Road and water safety
Several deaths occurred over the weekend amid warnings over road and water safety.
A man in his 50s died after getting into difficulty in the water off the coast of Killorglin in Co Kerry on Sunday night. It is understood that he fell from a boat at about 10pm.
Elswhere, a man in his early 60s died following a single-vehicle crash in Co Wexford on Sunday afternoon. At approximately 2.20pm, gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the crash in Rosslare Harbour.
The same afternoon, a motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Co Louth. The man in his 60s crashed on the R173 between Carlingford and Omeath in a single-vehicle collision at around 3.30pm.
Junior Cycle curriculum revamp
Pornography, consent and gender stereotyping will soon become part of the Junior Cycle curriculum.
It follows a review conducted by the Department of Education which found it was "heavily concerned" with aspects of Ireland's relationships and sexuality programme.
Every school, irrespective of their ethos, will have to deliver the revamped version of the subject.
Minister for Education Norma Foley has described the proposed revamp of RSE as “a step in the right direction” and as the catalyst to empowering students to cope with life in the 21st century.
Refugees accommodated in tents
Ukrainian refugees are expected to stay in tents at a military camp in Co Meath for no longer than a week, Minister for Children Roderic O’Gorman has said, as 150 people are to be moved there on Tuesday.
It comes after it emerged last week that the Citywest welcome centre for Ukrainians had reached capacity, coupled with a shortage of accommodation for other international protection seekers.
This led to Ukrainians sleeping on the floor in an old terminal at Dublin Airport for up to two days.
The number of Ukrainian refugees registered in Ireland has increased by almost 4,500 in three weeks, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
