Drumcondra death

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the suspected murder of a man in Dublin.

The body of the man in his late 20s was discovered at an apartment on Achill Road, Drumcondra.

A man in his 30s arrested as part of this investigation is still being detained at a Garda station in north Dublin.

August heatwave

Met Éireann has issued an advisory warning for warm weather ahead of a heatwave over the next few days.

The national forecaster said: "Ireland will experience a hot spell developing from Wednesday and continuing through the rest of the week and the weekend.

"Daytime temperatures will widely reach the mid to high twenties. Remaining uncomfortably warm overnight too."

Eviction notices

The number of eviction notices issued to renters increased by 58 per cent in the first half of the year, compared with the final six months of 2021.

According to figures from the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB), almost 3,000 notices to quit were issued between January and the end of June.

Wind energy has provided 34 per cent of Ireland’s energy so far this year, on the back of record figures in recent months, a new report shows.

The latest figures from Wind Energy Ireland found it accounted for 21 per cent of all of the country’s power last month.

July saw a two-fold increase in demand met by wind, compared with the same period last year.
