Dublin Airport cancellations

Aer Lingus has been forced to cancel a number of flights from Dublin Airport as staff shortages due to Covid-19 continue to plague the airline.

According to the Dublin Airport website, Aer Lingus flights to London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Berlin have been cancelled today. The London flights were scheduled for 10.45am, 3.10pm, 3.55pm and 8.15pm, while the Paris and Berlin flights were due to depart at 2pm and 5.55pm.

Air France cancelled its 8.50am flight to Paris Charles de Gaulle, while KLM has cancelled the 5.25pm flight to Amsterdam.

The Aer Lingus flight to Bordeaux at 1.30pm on Friday has also been cancelled.

Airlines have so far cut about 60 flights from Dublin this week in the face of bottlenecks, strikes and Covid.

Sophie Toscan du Plantier cold case review

Ian Bailey has said he will fully cooperate with a cold case review into the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

The new Garda inquiry comes more than 25 years after the French film-maker was found dead near Schull in west Cork.

Mr Bailey, with an address at The Prairie in Schull, was arrested twice but never charged with the crime in Ireland.

Early budget

The forthcoming budget could be brought forward by up to a month by the Government, as it faces significant pressure from the Opposition about the growing cost-of-living crisis.

Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan said he "would not object" to the budget being brought forward to September from October.

Middle aisle sales

Lidl has announced six warehouse clearance sales set to feature products from its popular ‘middle aisle’ section.

The sales will take place in the supermarket giant’s stores in Sligo, Shackleton, Wicklow, Shankill, Youghal and Tralee, from Thursday, July 7th to Sunday, July 10th.

The retailer said they will feature “hundreds of Lidl’s most covetable middle aisle items and more, with up to 80 per cent off.”
