A gripping Ulster football championship final ended in chaotic scenes in Clones when Donegal and Armagh players tangled on the pitch as jubilant Donegal fans were streaming onto the field into the middle of it all.

Jim McGuinness's side came out on top of a truly pulsating clash that went all the way to the final seconds of extra-time before a fifth Ulster crown on his watch was secured.

However almost immediately after the final hooter sounded a confrontation erupted, appearing to be sparked between a Donegal player and the Armagh bench.

A provincial decider which was sky high on drama and quality had also seen its share of niggle between the rivals. Some of that looked to erupt in the moments after the contest had been decided.

Ecstatic Donegal fans were invading the pitch in Clones just as more players and members of the Donegal and Armagh camps got involved and the situation threatened to devolve further.

Both McGuinness and McGeeney got right into the thick of the scuffle to help separate those involved and settle tensions before Donegal would raise silverware.
