Derry have won their first Ulster football title since 1998. They did it the hard way needing extra time to get past Donegal.

Brendan Rogers and Conor Glass kicked the final two scores to give the Oak Leaf County a 1-16 to 1-14 victory.

Galway are the Connacht senior football champions for a 48th time. They overcame Roscommon by 2-19 to 2-16 in the final at Pearse Stadium.

Shane Walsh and Patrick Kelly scored the goals for the Tribesmen.

Carlow beat Tipperary in the Tailteann Cup on a scoreline of 1-12 to 1-10 at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Westmeath defeated Laois by 1-13 to 0-13 at O'Moore Park, and Offaly ran out 0-18 to 0-10 winners over Wicklow in Tullamore.


Nottingham Forest have clinched promotion to the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield in the Championship play-off final.


A Levi Colwill own goal just before the break proved to be the difference between the two teams at Wembley.

Forest return to the top flight after 23 years away and will benefit from at least 170 million pounds in what's known as the richest game in football.

Formula One

Mexico's Sergio Perez has won a dramatic Monaco F1 Grand Prix - which was cut short due to time restrictions.

The Red Bull driver crossed the line ahead of Ferrari's Carlos Sainz, with standings leader Max Verstappen in third.

Britain's Lewis Hamilton finished eighth - three places behind Mercedes teammate George Russell.

The race didn't last the full 77 laps, after a delayed start due to rain and a red flag to allow barrier repairs after a huge crash for Mick Schumacher in the Haas.


Victor Perez has won a play off to be crowned the winner of this year's Dutch Open.

The Frenchman bested Ryan Fox of New Zealand in the extra holes in the Netherlands.

Fox double bogeyed the last to allow Perez the chance to force the playoff.

Padraig Harrington is level par five holes into his concluding round of the Senior PGA Championship in Michigan. That puts him into a tie for tenth on seven under par.

The Dubliner is seven shots behind leader Stephen Ames.


Novak Djokovic is through to the quarter-finals of the French Open.

The world number one got a straight sets victory over Diego Schwartzman of Argentina, winning 6-1, 6-3, 6-3.

Djokovic will face either Rafa Nadal or Felix Auger-Aliassime for a place in the last four.

Nadal, a 13 time winner at Roland Garros, is now level with the Canadian at two sets a piece.

In the women's draw, American Coco Gauff has reached the quarter-finals for the second year in a row after easing past Elise Mertens in straight sets.
