They survived a late fightback to get the better of Waterford by 0-20 to 1-16.

In Division 1B, Tipperary outlasted Galway to come away with a 1-26 to 0-24 win in Thurles.

Elsewhere, Dublin just squeezed past Antrim by 1-20 to 1-19 while Limerick needed a strong second half to get past Westmeath 1-20 to 0-17.
