Finn Harps manager Jonathan Speak has added a new addition to the squad in the lead-up to the new eircom First Division season which gets underway next month.

Eloka Asokuh, a Nigerian born player, joins the club from Rangers International in his home country and arrived in Donegal last Friday to meet Speak and other members of the club.

Asokuh is 26-years-old and his previous clubs include Udoji United, BCC Lions and Garos International. He was a member of the Nigerian Under 20 World Cup winning side of eight years ago and has league championship honours with BCC Lions.

Asokuh is very strong and has good ball control. He is comfortable in either the centre of defence or in the middle of the park. He has great pace and is a free-kick specialist. He is also good in the air and is a well-disciplined player with a high work rate.

All Harps supporters will be waiting to see if the Nigerian, who has played at all levels with Nigeria up to under-23 level, can be a hit at Finn Park. They are likely to get their first view of him in the pre-season friendlies.

On other squad news, Niall Bonner has signed a new two year contract with Harps which will keep him at Finn Park until the end of the 2004 season while Neil Lloyd, who was Speak's first signing when he took over the managerial reigns, has signed a new one year contract.

In total, Harps now have ten players on their books for the start of the new season - Declan Boyle; Shane Bradley; Jonathan Minnock; Shane Sweeney; Patrick McGrenaghan; Kevin McHugh; Tom Mohan; Eloka Asokuh; Niall Bonner and Neil Lloyd. Other members of last year's panel, which Speak has identified as players he wants to retain will be spoken to in the coming week or so, while other new additions to the squad are likely in the near future.
