Evra 'happy' at United, but loves Paris

Patrice Evra has welcomed apparent interest from Paris St Germain but insisted he has no plans to leave Manchester United.

With speculation once again linking Alex Ferguson with a move for Everton’s Leighton Baines, Evra’s position at Old Trafford has come under scrutiny.

It was no surprise therefore that Evra’s name should be linked with a move to PSG, who are making rapid strides in both France and Europe thanks to their massive Qatari-backed investment.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti has played down the talk and it seems Evra has no plans to go anywhere either.

But the 31-year-old, who joined United from Monaco in 2006, did not exactly close the door on a return to France.

“You would have to kill Ferguson before bringing me to Paris,” he told Canal Plus.

“For now, there is nothing to do. I have a year left on my contract. I am at Manchester United. I am captain and I am happy.

“But it’s always a pleasure to be wanted by a club such as Paris St Germain, especially as I am Parisian.

“I have never hidden my love of Paris, even though Monaco is still ’my’ team. It has always pained me to see the club not win the title or qualify for the Champions League.”

PSG are currently second in the French league, five points behind Lyon.

Last week they qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners, meaning they will be a seeded team for the draw on December 20.
