Chelsea have denied comments attributed to Andriy Shevchenko in a Russian newspaper in which the striker was quoted as questioning his future at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues’ record signing insists he has given only one interview in recent weeks to a Russian magazine called ProSport and today reiterated his commitment to the club.

“I give 100% all the time and I am committed and hungry for success with Chelsea,” the 30-year-old said.

“I have total respect for the Chelsea club and fans as well as for football in England and the culture of the country.

“There are always good and not so good moments in sport. That’s normal. If that means there is opinion and criticism, I respect that.”

Shevchenko admitted in the ProSport interview he was unhappy with the start he made with the Barclays Premiership champions but denied struggling to adapt to the rigours of English football.
