Jeremy Scott is hoping Gone To Lunch can book his ticket to the Cheltenham Festival with a big run on Saturday.

The novice hurdler is likely to run in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Doncaster (registered as the River Don) though does have an alternative entry in the Byrne Group Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Scott, who trains at Dulverton in Somerset, is looking for the best ground for his eight-year-old.

“I would think he’s more likely to go for the Doncaster race, but we put in the two entries to try and get the best ground we could,” said Scott.

“The nearer to good ground the more likely we are to run at either place, but I think it will probably be Doncaster.

“Both are good competitive races. The Doncaster race doesn’t look very easy at all – the Victor Dartnall horse (Lodge Lane) looks very useful.

“Our horse is in very good order and I’m very pleased with him. The Festival is the hope. It would be very nice to have a runner there.

“He’s a very easy horse to train. You don’t have to put a huge amount of work into him. We’ve given him little breaks all the way along and he seems to come back pretty quickly.

“We are delighted with him and hopefully he’ll run a big race.”

Gone To Lunch has won four of six starts over hurdles and finished second in the other two. He was runner-up to Nenuphar Collonges at Cheltenham last month on his latest start.
