All-Ireland champions Kilkenny have clinched six positions on the 2020 All-Star squad.

The awards on Saturday evening, held virtually due to Covid-19 restrictions, saw the Cats lead the way, with Claire Phelan (full-back), Davina Tobin (left half-back), Grace Walsh (midfield), Denise Gaule (left half-forward), Miriam Walsh (full-forward) and Anne Dalton (left corner-forward) capping off a successful year with their county.

The Camogie Association/WGPA Players' Player of the Year award went to Gaule, winning the award for a second time, while the Intermediate and Junior awards went to Down's Niamh Mallon and Armagh's Ciara Donnelly respectively.

Tipperary and Cork each claimed three Senior all-star awards, followed by Galway with two, while Niamh Rockett flew the flag for Waterford.

The 2020 Soaring Star squad was also announced, with All-Ireland Intermediate Champions Down taking home six awards. Antrim claimed three, Armagh and Laois two each, and Meath and Cavan one each.

Kilkenny's Brian Dowling was also named Manager of the Year.

Speaking at the online event, president of the Camogie Association, Kathleen Woods thanked everyone involved for the commitment throughout a difficult year for sport, and commended the players for adapting to the challenge.

"You, our All-Star nominees played the Championships behind closed doors in empty stadia, and it didn’t curtail you’re your passion and commitment," Ms Woods said.
