Roy Keane was unimpressed with Gary Neville's comments about Declan Rice on a recent podcast as he brought up the Arsenal midfielder's time playing for the Republic of Ireland.

Keane, Neville and Ian Wright are in New York with Stick to Football for the World Cup.

Rice is likely to start for England on Wednesday evening as their tournament kicks off with a clash against Croatia.

Keane was Martin O'Neill's assistant when Rice made three appearances for the Boys in Green, before switching his allegiances to England.

In a discussion on England greats, Keane dismissed the selection of Rice. Neville said: "You’re just a bit upset still because he didn’t choose Ireland, aren’t you?"

Keane did not enjoy the joke. He replied: "No, he did choose Ireland. He played for Ireland, so he did choose them. He changed his mind. He did play for them; he kissed the badge as well in one game."
