Greene steps down from Mount Sion post

Jim Greene has stepped down as manager of Waterford hurling champions Mount Sion.

Jim Greene has stepped down as manager of Waterford hurling champions Mount Sion.

Greene steered the side to three consecutive county titles and a Munster provincial championship but suffered heartbreak this year and last.

In 2003, the Deise side were hot favourites to advance to the All-Ireland final, but were humbled by Antrim side Dunloy.

This year, Sion surrendered a seven-point lead against Tipp champions Toomevara to lose the Munster final by a point.

Paraic Fanning will take over as manager of the side that includes county stars Ken McGrath and Tony Browne.
