Fintan McCarthy and Paul O'Donovan have successfully retained their lightweight double sculls title at the World Rowing Championships.

The reigning Olympic champions retained their world title, a fourth in a row for O'Donovan and third for McCarthy.

It was another day of Irish success at the championships in Belgrade as Ross Corrigan and Nathan Timoney also claimed bronze in the men's double sculls.

Earlier, Steven McGowan and Katie O’Brien came fifth in the PR2 mixed double sculls final

Aifric Keogh and Fiona Murtagh managed a fourth place finish in the women’s pair final.
