EastEnders actress Kim Medcalf has been flown back to Britain five days after her car crash in France.

EastEnders actress Kim Medcalf has been flown back to Britain five days after her car crash in France.

Kim, who plays barmaid Sam Butcher, returned home by air ambulance on Thursday and is now recovering in a London hospital.

The 28-year-old suffered a broken leg, hand and breastbone in the crash, which happened last Saturday near the port of Calais.

She was en route to Italy for a holiday with her boyfriend Sam Grant when their Toyota Yaris was involved in a head-on smash.

An EastEnders spokeswoman said: "Kim is in good spirits and is pleased to be back home. She is happy to be at hospital here so all her friends and family can visit her."

The actress is expected to spend up to a week in hospital before doctors deem her well enough to be allowed home.
