Britney hair boost

British electrical store chain Comet said it had seen a 40% increase in sales of curling tongs since stars such as Britney Spears fashioned the look at last week’s Grammy music awards in Los Angeles.

British electrical store chain Comet said it had seen a 40% increase in sales of curling tongs since stars such as Britney Spears fashioned the look at last week’s Grammy music awards in Los Angeles.

The firm says Britney and pop rival Christina Aguilera, along with singer Celine Dion, had sparked a new trend with their flowing locks.

Simon Exton, personal care buyer for Comet, said: ‘‘I never thought that Britney’s and Christina’s hairstyles could have such a dramatic effect on our sales figures. We haven’t seen anything like this since David Beckham shaved his hair off.’’
