Kevin O'Connor scored a late equaliser - but was then sent off - as Bray Wanderers earned a deserved point from a roller-coaster 4-4 draw with Limerick at Thomond Park.

Bray had the perfect start as they punished poor defending to take a sixth minute lead. John Mulroy was given too much time and space to put Ismahil Akinade in on goal and the young striker held off two defenders before finding the corner of the net.

The woodwork saved Limerick on 37 minutes when Kieran Marty Waters rounded keeper Barry Ryan only to shoot against a post, before the home side levelled three minutes later.

Bray keeper Darren Quigley failed to hold a Shane Tracy free kick and skipper Joe Gamble followed up to blast home the loose ball.

Akinade struck again to put Bray back in front two minutes before the break when bursting past three defenders to shoot beyond Ryan.

Limerick responded to equalise within three minutes of the second half. Quigley collided with striker Craig Curran as he came for a David O'Leary corner and Axel Bossekota headed home.

New signing Ryan Coombes put Bray back in front once more on 74 minutes when dispossessing Robbie Williams to score.

But yet again Limerick hit back within four minutes with a fortuitous third equaliser when a shot from Curran which looked like it was going wide before taking a strong deflection to loop over Quigley and into the net.

Curran then put Limerick ahead for the first time in the game on 85 minutes with another deflected shot after which Bray boss Pat Devlin was sent from the dugout for protesting.

O'Connor then equalised for Bray three minutes later with a header from a Waters free kick. But the Bray midfielder was then sent off on 90 minutes for a foul on Darragh Rainsford, his yellow card offence.
