There was little overall movement in the index of Irish shares today, with a gain of just 1.71 points to 9921.74.
The financials had a mixed day, with Allied Irish Bank the best performer, gaining 20c to €22.50. Bank of Ireland (down 3c to €20.85) and Irish Life & Permanent (up 3c to €20.85) had quiet days. Anglo Irish Bank fell 16c to €17.15.
Investors shunned the building sector, with CRH having a particularly gad day, plummeting 86c to €36.18. Grafton also lost ground, dropping 32c to €11.98.
The biggest gain of the day came for Elan, who shot up €1.09 to €14.69.
In the food and drink sector, there was some decent gains for Kerry Group (up 13c to €21.45) and Donegal Creameries (up 25c to €7.15). The news was not as good for C&C, who shed 15c to €12.35.
The other significant losers of the day were FBD (down 69c to €37.81) and DCC (down 24c to €25.46).
