Man remanded over RUC information charge

A man has been remanded in custody by the Special Criminal Court, charged with possessing information on an RUC officer.

31-year-old Gerald Anthony McFadden of Rathlin Gardens, Derry, was arrested on April 15 in Donegal on suspicion of drink driving.

A subsequent search of his vehicle by gardai led to the discovery of notes in his wallet detailing the movements of an RUC Superintendent.

He was charged two days later with having information that was likely to be useful in committing a terrorist offence.

McFadden was remanded in custody to appear at the Special Criminal Court again on July 11.
