De Valera calls for more protection orders

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Sile de Valera, confirmed today that she has recommended that over 2,000 buildings nationwide be included in the record of protected structures.

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Sile de Valera, confirmed today that she has recommended that over 2,000 buildings nationwide be included in the record of protected structures.

Minister de Valera said it was a significant step in the right direction and that the new approach would allow recommendations to be made in good time in order to avoid emergency situations arising.

The buildings recommended for protection are located in 17 towns around the country.
