A booby trap blew up in a car near the Colombian capital Bogota today when two police explosives experts tried to open the door. Both men were killed.
No one claimed responsibility, but police chief General Luis Ernesto Gilibert blamed the rebel Farc movement.
The latest tactic used by the Farc is to detonate a small explosive, then set off a large bomb minutes later after rescue workers, police and onlookers have gathered at the scene, military officials said.
The rebel group has stepped up attacks on this South American country’s infrastructure since peace talks collapsed in February.
Colombia’s 38 year civil war pits two rebel armies against US backed government forces and an outlawed right-wing paramilitary group.
