Denis O’Regan is having a problem with his back assessed after the injury ruled him out of action at Sedgefield on Tuesday.

The severity of the trouble is unknown and the jockey, who rides principally for the powerful team of Howard Johnson and Graham Wylie, is undergoing checks.

“To be honest, at this stage I would only be speculating, but Denis is having a scan on his back today,” said O’Regan’s agent Richard Hale.

“He had a fall last week at Ayr and while he has been riding since, it has been giving him a lot of pain.”
