BP has said it is close to settling criminal claims from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill two years ago.

BP has said it is close to settling criminal claims from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill two years ago.

The explosion and fire on the Deepwater Horizon rig killed 11 workers and caused oil to contaminate large areas of the southern coast of the US.

BP has already set aside $37bn to cover any costs and fines.
