Spanish premier Jose Maria Aznar has said at a summit in the Azores that a war in Iraq would be legal.

He also said that a new UN resolution would not be needed for a war.

He is to attend a summit in the Azores along with US president George Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair to consider whether to continue diplomacy to disarm Iraq or opt for war.
