Captain Daragh Ryan is out of Wexford Division 1B National Hurling League
clash with Derry in Gorey on Sunday next.
Forced to retire in the victory over Cork ten minutes from the end, it now appears as if Ryan has aggravated an old shoulder injury, for which he is now receiving intensive treatment.
Wexford Manager Tony Dempsey is hoping against a costly miss.
"Daragh is definitely out of the Derry game but we are hopeful he will be available for Kilkenny the following week. We are treating Derry with the utmost respect but a victory would set up a huge clash with our great rivals".
Meanwhile the selectors are still sweating on the availability of Rod Guiney. A late withdrawal from the Cork game with a hamstring injury, Guiney is still struggling, and will undergo a fitness check later in the week.
There is better news regarding Larry Murphy forced out of the substitutes with a back problem for he will be available for selection.
