Truck accident disrupts M7 traffic

A lorry has jack-knifed and shed its load on the M7 motorway in Co. Laois.

A lorry has jack-knifed and shed its load on the M7 motorway in Co. Laois.

The accident happened around Junction 16 between Ballybrittas and Kilminchy.

The truck was travelling southbound and its contents of paletted material is also spread across the northbound lane.

Traffic is both directions is affected and diversions are in place.

Fire brigade and ambulance service personnel are en route, but it is understood there are no serious injuries.

The disruption is expected to last a number of hours as a crane and forklift are needed to clear the road.

Meanwhile a car is blocking the central median of Junction 14 at Monasterevin and gardaí are at the scene.

It is not known at this stage if there are any injuries.
