It was all too easy for Down as they strolled to a 3-22 1-09 victory over London in Casement Park.

Leading by 2-11 1-05 at half time the former Ulster champions never moved out of bottom gear against a london side who played hard throughout but were lacking in ability and fitness.

first half goals for Down by Paul Braniff and Paddy Coulter set the scene for this one sided victory.

Ian Wocks was London’s most dangerous forward scoring a goal from a free after 8 minutes which gave them a 1-1 0-3 lead, but a minute later Paul Braniff got Down’s first goal and the game ended as a contest at this stage.

Ian Wocks scored 1-5 of London’s total while Johnny McGrattan scored eight of Down’s points with Paul Braniff also being Down’s most accurate.

Down lost both midfielders Gary Savage and Paddy Monan at the break while their sharpshooter Noel Sands went off injured after the break.
