Derry City 1 Shamrock Rovers 2
Goals from striker Gary Twigg and Dessie Baker eased Shamrock Rovers into the last four at the Brandywell.
After a dour first half, the game sprung to life early in the second with Rovers taking the lead within four minutes.
Sean O’Connor crossed off his weaker right foot and Gary Twigg, back following his wedding at the weekend, headed past Eugene Ferry.
Howls of derision then rang around the Brandywell minutes later when failed to be awarded a penalty after Alan Mannus took down Mark Farren.
Baker added a second for Rovers on 58 minutes.
Farren got a goal back for Derry on 84 minutes but Rovers held to go through.
