French and Italian passenger trains collided in an Alpine tunnel in eastern France today, injuring ten people.

French and Italian passenger trains collided in an Alpine tunnel in eastern France today, injuring ten people.

The trains collided in the Biona tunnel near the Italian border with Italy. French police described the injuries as minor.

The French train had about 40 passengers and was on the line between Nice and Tende. The other train was carrying 60 people on a route that passes through France to link two Italian cities – Torino and Ventimiglia.
