Man appears in Bandon court on rape charge

A 31-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with raping a woman in west Cork earlier this week.

A 31-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with raping a woman in west Cork earlier this week.

The man - who cannot be named for legal reasons - appeared before a special sitting of Bandon District Court this afternoon where he was charged with rape on August 25.

Gardaí objected to bail and Judge Angeal Ni Chonduin remanded the accused in custody to appear before the court again next Friday.
