An estimated 8,000 Republic of Ireland fans are expected in Basle ahead of their make-or-break Euro qualifier with Switzerland.

An estimated 8,000 Republic of Ireland fans are expected in Basle ahead of their make-or-break Euro qualifier with Switzerland.

The Republic must win if they are to have any hope of making it to next summer's finals in Portugal.

Manager Brian Kerr is sweating on the fitness of midfielder Matt Holland, who was set to lead the side out in the absence of suspended Kenny Cunningham.

Holland is displaying flu-like symptoms.
