Two young men have been arrested following a stabbing incident in Portlaoise overnight.

Two young men have been arrested following a stabbing incident in Portlaoise overnight.

An 18-year-old is in a stable condition in the town's general hospital after he was stabbed in the stomach on Main St just before 2.30am.

The two arrested, aged 19 and 20, are being held at Portlaoise Garda Station under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
