The Charity Concern says the rising cost of food is threatening the lives of millions in developing countries.

The Charity Concern says the rising cost of food is threatening the lives of millions in developing countries.

The charity believes the increasing use of bio-fuels to create alternative energy sources has resulted in soaring food prices globally.

The agency now wants aid increased to the agricultural sectors in sub-Saharan Africa so local farmers can make ends meet there.

Concern boss Tom Arnold some country's food import bill has rocketed and more food aid needs to be given.

But he also says more emphasis needs to be put on some country's producing its own food.
