Allen reveals worst concert moment

Chart star Lily Allen revealed how she suffers for her art today – after braving a digestive upset on stage.

Chart star Lily Allen revealed how she suffers for her art today – after braving a digestive upset on stage.

The singer said the incident – in which she had to keep a 'Smile' while in desperate need of the toilet – was the worst concert experience she has ever endured.

Allen admitted the crowd in Seattle were baying for more while she was sitting on the loo after winding up the show.

She told the November edition of Q magazine: “I came down with diarrhoea but I still went on. I was desperate to (go) the whole way through.

“At the end of the show I went to the toilet and it would not stop, the crowd were going ”Lil-y! Lil-y!“ for an encore. I didn’t feel I could send anyone out and say: ’Will you lot just shut up? She’s having a c**p’, but that was the truth.”

Her revelation came as her team today denied Allen was retiring from music. The singer had posted a message online declaring that she had no plans to make another record.

The 24-year-old, who has embarked on a high-profile crusade against music piracy, wrote that she could no longer make money from singing – but the comments were later removed. Allen is preparing for a West End stage role in Neil LaBute’s 'Reasons to Be Pretty'.

Her message said: “Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record.”

But her publicist insisted today: “Lily is not retiring from music. She is still promoting her current album which is why she said she is not thinking about her next record right now.”

The singer made her comments on a blog she set up to discuss file-sharing on the internet, a subject which has sparked fierce debate. A number of people had posted messages criticising her stance.

The singer has now shut down the blog, and explained on Twitter that “the abuse was getting too much”.
