The battle over the acquisition of farm land for new roads has intensified with farmers picketing a public consultation of the National Roads Authority in Roscrea, Co Tipperary.
The Irish Farmers Association launched a fresh attack on the employers' body, IBEC, saying that it was its firms that have lead to the inflated cost of new roads.
IFA President Tom Parlon said all his organisation's members are seeking is fair compensation for land needed for the building of new routes.
