The Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble has left Hillsborough castle after an hour long meeting with the Taoiseach and the British Prime Minister.

The SDLP leader Mark Durkan has criticised Mr Trimble for walking out early and said that if he was serious he would have stayed for the round table talks.

Mr Trimble emerged to say he had put his position to the two Governments. He said there must be a clear definition of the ceasefire and there must be red lines over which paramilitaries should not cross.

Mr Trimble said the two governments had until the end of July to make these red lines clear or he will take action himself.

He said there were no proposals from either government on the table today so there was nothing else for his party to do
