F1 legend Walker: I used to eat cat food

British motorsport commentator Murray Walker used to eat cat food to prove a point.

The 87-year-old TV legend revealed he would eat the animal provisions from time to time when he had a job selling pet food to show sceptical clients that it was of a decent standard.

He told the Daily Express newspaper: "I used to sell pet food and, if they were suspicious about the quality and they queried it, we would open the can of Kitekat and eat it in front of them."

Murray - who commentated on Formula 1 full-time up until 2001 - was the man behind well known phrase from 1960s TV, "Trill makes budgies bounce with health".

He previously voiced Formula One grand prix on BBC and later ITV in 1997, when the coverage was snapped up by the broadcaster.
