Boy-band McFly have soared to the top of the UK singles charts with I’ll Be OK, knocking James Blunt from the number one spot.
The former soldier who had occupied the top spot for five weeks with his ballad to an ex-girlfriend – You’re Beautiful, slipped into second place.
Canadian-born Daniel Powter’s Bad Day was pushed into third place while Pete Doherty’s Babyshambles went straight in at number four with F*** Forever.
A surprise new entry came from ageing metal rockers Iron Maiden. The veteran group’s re-release, The Trooper, went in at number five while Justin Hawkins' new project, British Whale, entered the charts at number six with This Town Ain’t Big Enough For Both Of US.
Kelly Clarkson’s Since U Been Gone stayed in seventh place while Craig David’s All The Way fell from three to eight.
Goldfrapp’s Ooh La La slumped five places to number nine and Akon dropped to 10th place from number five.
In the album charts the top five places remained unchanged from last week.
Blunt’s Back to Bedlam, is still at number one, with Coldplay one place behind with X&Y.
The Kaiser Chiefs’ Employment remained in third place and Faithless’ Forever Faithless – The Greatest Hits occupied fourth place for the second week running.
