Republic of Ireland U16 1 Turkey U16 1
The Republic of Ireland under-16 side drew their second game of the Castelo Blanco Tournament in Portugal as they were held by Turkey.
Against a Turkish side all in full time training and who mauled Russia 7-4 on Tuesday, Ireland acquitted themselves well fighting back from a goal down and, with better finishing, could have claimed the victory.
"We should have won the game," said manager Vincent Butler. "We had plenty of chances late in the game but I think that tiredness was a factor as we missed the lot of them.
"But our performance was, once again, very good and that's what this tournament is about."
After conceding an early goal which came against the run of play, Ireland fought back and drew level in the 30th minute.
Edward Nolan coolly slotted home a penalty after Anthony Stokes had been denied a near certain goal when he was upended by the goalkeeper.
Ireland dominated the second half, but despite a host of chances, the winning goal remained elusive.
Ireland's final game of the tournament is on Saturday morning against Russia (Kick off 10:00).
