A homeless man in his 40s has been found dead on a street in Dublin city centre.

A homeless man in his 40s has been found dead on a street in Dublin city centre.

He was discovered in a doorway on Molesworth Street at around 8am this morning.

A doctor was called to the scene and the man was pronounced dead shortly after 9am.

His body has been taken to the city morgue where a post mortem will be carried out to determine his cause of death.

Gardaí say he has been identified, however his name has not yet been released.

It is understood he was originally from Carlow, but had moved to Dublin.
