Six Nations: I'm not a marked man - Johnson

Martin Johnson is not expecting Ireland to try and capitalise on his current disciplinary problems.

Martin Johnson is not expecting Ireland to try to capitalise on his current disciplinary problems.

The England captain expects Ireland to be too focused at Twickenham to attempt to provoke him into retaliation.

Johnson's response came after he was asked to attend an RFU disciplinary panel next week to answer a charge of punching Saracens forward Robbie Russell in a Zurich Premiership clash.

"If it does happen you just get on with the game because it's so fast at this level," said Johnson.

"If they want to waste their time that is up to them - but they should concentrate on playing rugby, they are such a good team."

Johnson believes Ireland are more than capable of compensating for the loss of Keith Wood, who has failed to recover from a calf injury.

Frankie Sheehan deputises and Johnson said: "Woody's a great player and a good captain and they will obviously miss him.

"But the guy in his place is a very good player as well. They will have confidence in the man they have brought in to replace him."

Seeking to erase the memory of England's defeat at Lansdowne Road which cost them the Grand Slam in October, Johnson said: "This is the strongest Irish side I have ever played against.

"They play to their strengths - they certainly did when they beat England at Lansdowne Road. That day their defence was more disciplined than it has been, and they will be difficult to beat."
