A motorcyclist in his forties has been killed in a road crash in Co Monaghan.

Motorcyclist dies in collision with SUV

A motorcyclist in his forties has been killed in a road crash in Co Monaghan.

He died when his motorbike was involved in a collision with a SUV on the N2 at Broomfield in Castleblayney at 1.30pm this afternoon.

He was pronounced dead at scene and his body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The road at the scene is closed to facilitate an investigation and motorists are being advised that diversions are in place.
